The Curse of Xal'Atoh

February 13, 2017
[4:18 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: =i write lore for my own death, because it brings me a sadistic joy=
[4:33 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: Neltharion's fiery eyes lit up the night as his rider beheaded yet another one of her once-allies. She had grown dull to the feeling of betrayal. It was just... a part of her now. She couldn't really even describe it herself. It felt empty. Like clockwork fufilling its intended purpose, Gorehowl fell, the sound of the wind heralding another death. Another untimely victim fallen to the young deserter general. So when Neltharion slowed down before moving on to the next kill, something was off. In the night ahead of her, a.... warped figure stood. He was shaking uncontrollably, almost like a twig close to snapping. Perhaps a new recruit, not used to war? As Neltharion hovered ominously over the soldier, Rieze spoke to him. "Drop your weapon and run if you are too scared to fight. I won't execute you." The man looked up to her, and as if a switch flicked, he suddenly changed. His eyes lit up, and a smile spread across his face. An unnatural glow eminated from the eyes, devoid of emotion. Rieze also noticed... the man had no weapon. Was he... ferocious enough to fight unarmed? Neltharion roared, the sound ringing in Rieze's ears. Yet the man stood still... not moving, staring ominously at her. A crack sounded as his neck shifted, and something happened. A... blight spread across his arm, eminating from somewhere around his wrist. It formed into an amalgamation of bone and blighted flesh-like material. Multiple eyes adorned the blade, observing the surroundings almost like a newborn baby. The man roared, charging at her with the eldritch weapon in hand, a ferocious bloodlust apparent in his eyes.
[4:44 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: Rieze reacted quickly, although the sight of the... being sent chills down her spine. Neltharion darted backwards with one powerful flap of his wings, sending the man flying backwards as he faced the blast of wind. Yet, as he was flying, a tendril emerged from the weapon, pulling him safely back towards the ground again, continuing his charge. As he came ever closer, the weapon's blade split apart, revealing a crooked maw, with spiny teeth clearly intended to tear flesh to pieces, not consume it. The man swung the appartus towards her, but Neltharion was quick enough to dodge it, and the blade hit the ground, shrieking unnaturaly. It sent another chill down her spine, unnatural as it was. He swung again, this time just hitting the air, not even close to Neltharion. And again. His movements were... strange. Almost as if a mindless zombie swung wildly after noises, the axe cut through the air, again and again, aiming after Neltharion. But he was too high up. "What even... is that thing!?" No time to think now I guess. The wyvern dived down, and Rieze raised Gorehowl, aiming for one of the many flaws in the man's defense.
[4:50 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: But as the axe was about to touch his vulnerable neck, the weapon morphed again, making a faux wall of flesh immediately to protect the man. Yet, Gorehowl's velocity was too high, and the weapon tore straight through it, and into the man. He screamed, and his weapon did as well. It was clearly a sentient being, but how was it being weaponized like that? She ripped Gorehowl back, stained with the pinkish flesh mixed with the blood of the man. His agonized screams sounded, but he moved on, mindlessly swinging at Rieze. But the weapon's patience seemingly grew thin. As the man missed his 6th swing, bone spikes abruptly emerged from the handle, piercing the man's chest and arm. He didn't even have time to scream before his heart was pierced by the bone spike. He fell to the ground, and the weapon dissapeared from his hands.
[4:53 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: "What the...... Down!" Neltharion obeyed the command, and descended to the ground.
[4:55 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: Rieze slowly approached the corpse, axe in hand. Was the weapon killed too as the wielder died? She wasn't too sure, but stayed wary. There was a massive hole going right through the man's body and arm, where the spikes had pierced through the body like it was nothing
[5:08 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: His arm was still tucked beneath the body though. Rieze, against her better judgement came even closer. She lifted the body slightly, pushing it to the side. The disembodied arm beneath it did not seem like anything special. A sleeve of an Ethysian war uniform, leading down to a fingerless glove... with a strange bracelet. Red and gray steel, with a glass pattern. That had.... yellow snakelike eyes on it. Suddenly, it broke off the arm, 6 skittering legs carrying it around as the eyes surveyed the landscape. It set its eyes on Rieze, darting towards her. The unnatural situation terrified Rieze, so much so that she couldn't lift a finger, much less dart away before it jumped towards her, locking itself around her wrist. She screamed as something bore into her skin, firmly locking in place. The pain subsided quickly however, as she looked down on her arm in horror. It hadn't changed... but she felt the presence of something new in her mind. Something that watched, almost as if she shared a body with someone else. As she focused on this presence. she heard a voice. A powerful soul..... Full of fury and untapped hatred.... She quickly looked around herself, scouting her vicinity for enemies. Grasping Gorehowl again with her now bracelet adorned hand, she shouted into the night
[5:13 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: "Who's there! Show yourself!" Nobody replied. Instead, she heard something within her head Always here.... Always watching... Neltharion looked at his rider with a confused gaze, not understanding why she was panicking. "You... who and where are you!?" Within you...... at your hand whenever needed..... As the voice finished, Rieze felt a sting through her right arm. Unbearable pain spread through her, moving towards her hand, leaving a purple trace beneath her skin before it turned back to its pale colour. As it reached her fingertips, it buried into Gorehowl, twisting the metal as purple flesh emerged from it, accompanied with gazing snakelike yellow eyes, and bone protrusions.
[5:14 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: Rieze could only stare in terror as she realised what had happened Greetings... Silverwing....

[3:11 AM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: =continuation i guess= She silently gazed upon the amalgamation in her hand with a look of terror. Its dark presence was unsettling, but it being connected to her made it all worse. Worst of all, not even her thoughts was private anymore. But deep inside... she knew she couldn't stop. Steeling herself, she thought of a single phrase, as an experiment. "So... What do you want." It echoed through her mind, like ripples on a lake. And her suspicions were confirmed, as something new replied, a distorted and unsavory version of her own voice Your misery is ours... We want... What you want. "Misery? Stop pretending like you know me" Embrace your hatred. All should bow before you. Make them! The voice in her head became louder and louder, morphing relentlessly into the voices of people she knew. It warped from her father, to Delphine, to Avel, to Persephone, to Artemis, to Ianthe, then.. back to her own. "Get out of my head!" She dropped Gorehowl, and the second it left her grasp, the corruption dissapeared. The voices went silent. Neltharion came closer, audibly concerned for Rieze. "Im... fine. The mission isn't over yet." Yet she remained aware of the presence in her mind, even though it was silent. As her hand touched Gorehowl, she was relieved to see that it didn't turn corrupt as she touched it. She mounted Neltharion again, taking to the skies taking a look over the wall. A shaman, weaving another dark spell. "Was that... an illusion? It must have been. I'll tear him to pieces." Neltharion dived towards the mage, roaring to announce his presence. Rieze swung at him from the back of Neltharion, hitting him in his arm. His resilience was admirable enough for him to take it however, as he channeled a spell to regenerate the savage wound at a remarkable pace. "Damn it!"
[3:11 AM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: She dashed towards him again, going for the kill. As she neared him however, an overwhelming pain emerged in her right arm as the corruption reemerged, opening a bony jaw in the middle of the blade, serrated bone edges spelling certian doom for whoever would be caught in it. Rieze didn't have time to slow down before the jaw locked around the neck of the man, ferociously ripping his head off.
[3:21 AM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: Pluck their wings. Rip off their limbs. Leave them broken! Looking upon the axe again, the initial shock had dissapeared for Rieze, being replaced with a feeling of undilluted and pure terror. "Get away from me!" You need us..... Feed us their souls... We shall repay you in power... Rieze felt an unfamiliar surge of strength as a blue essence emerged from the recently dead body on the ground. It hovered above the corpse before flocking around Gorehowl... Or perhaps, the corrupted image of it. Nevertheless she felt the power within her, the strength to level a mountain if she had to. In the back of her head, she knew that she needed more. More power. How else would she protect everyone? Her own life was a small price to pay if it meant the future of all the people she loved. "Then, what price do I pay." Souls..... The voice went silent again as the corruption receded. The eyes on her new bracelet regained their ominous yellow glow. "What have I gotten myself up into.... What would father say?" A familiar voice sounded in her head, as clear as the day she first heard it. Your skills are exceptional Rieze. Yet I wont accept failures. You should be above that. Above and beyond. When I was your age, I was hailed as having the skills of an entire legion of men. But failing to execute a simple prisoner? Unacceptable. The bitter memory faded as fast as it had appeared. She had done her best to forget it. But why did it appear again now? She couldn't even remember the event again after it faded, like a gust of wind blowing away sand across the desert dunes.
[3:24 AM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: "It can't be helped. I can't get the damn thing away anyways. Only Ostus and Equona knows what it has done to my arm..." But yet, she felt the surge of power. Perhaps this deal wasn't all that bad..
[3:24 AM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: =and it ends temporarily again=
[3:38 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: =Last chapter of the Rieze meets the devil axe saga=
[3:47 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: One... Two.. Three. Rieze had slaughtered more enemies since her initial meeting with her new weapon and tool, which she was forced to pick up against her will. But it wasn't all that bad, The soul-stealing properties of the weapon proved to be effective. No negative side effects either. So far, it hadn't taken its toll on her. Yet, she would soon learn the terrible toll misuse of its power had. A Pegasus Knight. A regular, unimportant pegasus knight. Rieze's judgement was clouded. The drug-like experience of draining the souls of her enemies had led her into a ferocious rampage, seeking out her enemies and efficently dispatching of them. The maw teared through flesh and bone alike, aborbing more and more into its gory visage. Nobody survived more than one strike. Steel, bones, organic matter. All torn to pieces as the axe crashed through it. Then the one pegasus knight. His fear became apparent once the eyes on the axe locked onto him, and the maw split open again. Neltharion charged towards the pegasus, sucessfully striking him, and absorbing some of the pegasus' flesh. Something within the axe... overloaded however. Rieze had barely any time to react before a bone-spine erupted from the handle. In panic, she dropped Gorehowl.
[3:47 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: But it was too late
[3:50 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: A red stream ran down Rieze's face. The blood covered her eyes, and she screamed in agony. Her hand quickly ran across her face to figure out where it had pierced her. She only managed to let out a silent gasp once she ran her hand past her right eye.... but found nothing there. Instead, all that was left was an empty bleeding hollow.
[3:54 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: She panicked, the unholy adrenaline numbing all pain, but the blood still ran down her face. "Down! Down! Down!" She quickly led Neltharion to the ground, dropping limply out of his saddle, seeing the world spin before passing out. Before she faded completely though, the voice rang in the back of her head again. You will rest well in Ny'Alotha.... Neltharion roared, covering his partner's body with his wings. The pegasus rider was petrified from the visage, shaking like a leaf in the wind at the sight of the enraged wyvern. It didn't leave however. It only shed a tear, protecting the near lifeless body of his rider with his own....
[3:54 PM] Amasuri, Awaiting the New Moon: =and there we go=
