Thanatos, the Vengeful Reaper

February 9, 2017
[1:22 PM] Kwakado: She felt him. It came in a sudden sting in her scar, a burning that sank down to her heart. This sudden spark of intuition would usually have startled her, and it certainly managed to draw her attention away from the rest of the battle. But Persephone was not shaken by the revelation. His presence - the reunion that she'd longed for in every waking moment - brought her focus to a keen point. Without a moment of hesitation, she sent her horse racing through the woods, past the pack of terrifying flame-beasts. There was no time for her to think of them. There was no room in her heart to fear anything else but her beloved. "Milord Kyron!" The girl called out boldly to the rider, though their features was still cloaked in the night. It was Kyron. By the grace of Verone, it had to be Kyron. And so Persephone's faith was fulfilled, when she saw the unmistakable gleam of his enormous sword. The one he'd marked her with - a symbol of their undying love. She could hardly breathe, and her thundering heartbeat drowned out every sound around her. But for the first time in over a year, Persephone felt at peace. Everything was going to be okay now.

[1:10 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: The Ethysian general turned his head quickly to face the free knight, smirking slightly, "Ah, Persephone. It's been a while, hasn't it?" Kyron whipped his horse to turn himself around, facing his past lover; the oversized sword and his deep black armor shined in the light of the fire from the hounds around him. The general looked at Persephone, examining her to see how much she's changed since he had last seen her. He didn't think much before speaking, but he adding on after a moment, "Its a surprise to see you here...," Kyron looked to the soldiers behind Persephone, "But don't you dare tell me you're fighting for that filth," he blurted suddenly, stretching his arm out to reference the Floribian army. His tone of voice quickly went from a casual remark to a serious threat.(edited)
[1:23 PM] Kwakado: "I--" She froze. His query was just what she'd anticipated...yet now that the moment to respond had finally come, she couldn't find the words. She stared into his eyes with anxious admiration, silently praying for mercy, before starting her story. Her "...I was dragged off to Davonia. As a hostage. From there, I fulfilled my obligation...as Cawdor's heir. Yet my heart holds a single allegiance, milord...that hasn't changed!"(edited)
[1:57 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Kryon rose his eyebrow in suspicion, "Your heart clearly holds multiple allegiances if you're not denying this, Persephone," the general looked at the clear expression of worry and possibly even desperation in her face it this point. It was oddly satisifying to him, knowing that his authority is respected. But even so, he couldn't allow a traitor to be on the loose. "...And we can't have that, can we? Clear your mind and your corrupted little mind of this dual allegiance, Persephone- come back to Ethysia; Cawdor means nothing!" he placed an uncalledfor amount of emphasis on his words. "And I won't have to feed you to the dogs," he lightly threatened while looking over to his left, "They look pretty hungy, don't you think?"
[2:23 PM] Kwakado: "Kyron..." Persephone watched the horrifying creatures clash with the Sorines, and the Wyvern boy. She winced in pain, and fear, knowing a betrayal was imminent whatever her choice. But she was weary of war, of watching comrade after comrade throw themselves into the jaws of the unstoppable Empire. And the dogs did frighten her - but not nearly as much as him. "...As you wish, my love." Persephone spoke at a near whisper. "I only ask that you would escort me from this battlefield at once." She gave a smile of relief, though the desperation hadn't left her eyes. At least she wouldn't have to watch them die.(edited)
[2:28 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Kyron laughed, heartily and evilly, "Don't be silly, Persephone. The only way to prove your true loyalty to the Empire is to fight for her, of course," he looked over her and at Finn's army. Moving his head across, he picked out one soldier, and pointed at one Persephone had had her eyes on moments ago... her cloest friend, as he had known for some time: the thunder mage Artemis. "That one. Kill that one to prove your loyalty," he grinned, awaiting her response to his command. This could clearly go one of two ways, and he was thoroughly prepared for each.(edited)
[2:46 PM] Kwakado: "Kyron...!" Of course he'd heard. The youngest child of Sorine's stigmatic features were as well-known among the Floribian courts as Persephone's own. And neither of them had ever considered hiding their friendship from the world. Any other time, Persephone would be delighted to hear that Kyron had cared enough to notice these things from halfway across Junith. But here she felt only a paralyzing sickness in her gut. She couldn't. And he'd noticed that, too. Yet the thought of it couldn't leave her - that in one simple stroke she could secure her happiness for life - and it only brought further nausea. She couldn't bear to follow his finger any longer, and looked back to her beaux with an agonized expression. "Please, no...Kyron...we can't remain here! They're going to light the Ethysium and obliterate us all!" Her face turned a volatile shade of its own, but she maintained her composure even as every fiber of her body begged her to scream herself to pieces. "Do whatever you want with me after that...kill me if it pleases you. My life is yours, Kyron, surely you understand!"(edited)
[2:58 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "They're going to what?!" his eyes lit up, as if exploding fire popped into them in pure rage and anger, "Persephone! You should have told me before and not have rattled on if you truely love yours truely and your realy country, the Empire!" He tightened the grip on his blade and the reins of his horse. "This is unacceptable for one such as yourself. Its a shame, you were such a beautiful and experienced woman and soldier, but I guess some things just aren't meant to be... Prepare yourself, Floribian fool!" After whistling as if to signal the fiery hellhounds back to him, Kyron whipped his horse and, from a fair distance, begins his attack.
[3:00 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Kyron attacks! Miss!(edited)
[3:16 PM] Kwakado: The sound of the clash stirs the girl from her trance, as Orpheus shields her from harm. The enchanted weapon gifted to her by the Barentian confectioners, reforged with the saber of her lost brother, stood between Kyron's sword and her throat...against her will. Was it instinct, that moved it? Was it years of discipline, that replied to his challenge?
She had neither the time nor the wits to ponder it here; the blow was no less painful than if it had pierced her own heart. "No...no, I won't lose you! We mustn't stay here a moment longer...Kyron, please!" She brings a second hand to the hilt...but cannot bear to counter his blow.(edited)
[3:18 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Ha! If we're losing anyone, its going to be the filthy rat, you, Persephone!" Kryon screamed as he rose his sword to swing at her again, horse rearing upwards, but before he could get any further...
[3:23 PM] MCVII - The Whale: "You will not harm my comrade, dog wrangler!" The armor knight charges Kyron, thrusting his sword, blade gleaming with a protective hue.(edited)
[3:25 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Lorenzo attacks! Hit! 25 damage! (25/50)
[3:27 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Gah!" he clutches the wound, "What do you think you're doing, you little pest? You're not making this extermination any easier!" Kyron makes a sharp turn and stabs at Lorenzo!
[3:27 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Kyron attacks! Hit! 6 damage! (49/55) Kyron attacks again! Miss!
[3:32 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo steps backward slightly, absorbing the blow. He laughs a dark, booming chuckle, then slams the flat of his sword against his shield tauntingly. "Hah! You are the one who fights with the flea's bite! I would take worse damage from thine steed there--at least it can try to trample me down!"
[3:37 PM] Kwakado: "Stand back, Sorine!" The noblewoman's blade pointing rightward, in front of Lorenzo. In her other hand is an empty candy wrapper, which flutters slowly to the ground. Her eyes turn to her comrade with an unprecedented rage. "This duel is mine." Her gaze returns to Kyron, far more fierce than that of the girl from five years before, who'd kept still even as he had cut into her throat. "General Glamis, by the Lover and the Warlover...I am taking you back to Ethysia. I shan't die a moment before it!" She rides aside her fiance, slashing resolutely into his armored body. If she could just get him to submit...to see her strength..maybe she could stop this living nightmare. As Yuridia continued her stride to the back of the cliffside, Persephone lifted her sword in a formal salute. Attack Kyron with Orpheus Canto Up 1(edited)
[3:47 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Persephone attacks! Hit! 18 damage (7/50)!(edited)
[3:50 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Gods, Persephone! You're-you're much stronger than," he stated, coughing and breathing heavily, with the occasional spittin up blood due to his wounds, "I remembered..." He reached for a small bottle on his satchel and pulled the cork out from the top. He guzzled down the strange blue liquid inside and then wiped his face off with his arm. While certaintly a bloodied up mess, the general wasn't ready to give up yet. He tossed the bottle on the ground and the glass shattered everywhere.(edited)
[4:24 PM] Kwakado: "I'm not a child anymore, Kyron Glamis...Nor a mere rat of Floribar." With a lifetime of preparation behind her, the girl gives a swift kick to Yuridia's side, winding back for another strike. "I am your bride." Ruthless rage guides her sword hand, giving no mercy to the mutilated man. She had longed for this chance to prove her worth - dreamed of it. Despite everything else, this was the one fact Persephone took no shame in. Action Attack Kyron with Orpheus(edited)
[4:34 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Persephone attacks! Hit! 18 damage! (9/50)!
[4:36 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Calm down there, Persephone. You're going to work yourself out and become too exhausted to fight me. Unless you're making this easier for me, in which case, you should stop and put up a real fight!" Kyron was vibrantly angered, and raised his voice, screaming, despite his numerous wounds. He counterattacks.
[4:36 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Kyron attacks! 99 lol, Miss!

[12:50 AM] Kwakado: Persephone ducked aside as they rode past each other, and Kyron's colossal sword missed its mark by a wide margin. Yet the sheer velocity of their movements sent the princess's pendant streaming off her neck, still fastened to its golden chain. Her complexion grew pale, her expression white-hot with fury. "Enough of your howling! I've no intent to wallow at your feet like your infernal hounds!" Yuridia made a tight turn along the cliff, facing their adversary once more. She straightened up, and gave her sword a triumphant twirl before choking its hilt in her grip once more. Her voice dropped to a soft, sultry snarl. "Don't you dare stay your hand again." He was better than this. She knew he was holding back. General Kyron was an unparalleled knight, a hero of the Empire, blessed with the right to bear Ethysia's most powerful blade. That he could settle for simply swinging it around and scaring her was a greivous blow to her pride that only pushed her further. As did her hope, however faint, that it was an act of compassion and not condescension. That love might have blinded him, shielding his woman even from his own wrath. That Persephone would finally have a place in his arms, and at his side. And all she had to do was win.(edited)

[11:34 AM] Mappy | Best Dog: [Anything controversial passed this point is Kwak's fault]
[11:44 AM] Mappy | Best Dog: The Ethysian general stood a moment, thinking to himself about his desicions. While they had been close before, he can't let a traitor get off the hook so easily, could he? A moment later, he lifted his sword again, pointing the blade at the woman, "If that's what you want, Persephone. I can't permit a traitor like yourself to continue on, could I? I'll cut you down," his face turned clearly enraged, and with it, became the face of pure evil. Before charging at her, Kyron added, with an evil smirk, "Just like your brother, with this very blade!" Kyron attacks! Hit! Alot of damage!
[12:00 PM] Kwakado: "What? Orfé--" And the stunned girl was silenced by his sword, unable to even cry out in pain as it sliced into her. She'd never once considered it - that her love could have imploded on itself so gruesomely. The only thing that kept these horrific thoughts from being her last was Yuridia, who made a dodging maneuver on her own. A shrill neigh attempted to rouse the horse's rider, but to no avail. Persephone had last met Kyron barely a month after losing her brother. Since Orfé's disappearance on the Ethysian border left Persephone as the next in line to Cawdor, such an arrangement was only natural, but....it was more than that, for them. He had offered words of comfort. He'd promised to do what he could to track down her brother. He was the reason she could still carry on without Orfé...that it was his doing was simply impossible. "No....That's not...You couldn't have!"
[12:03 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Of course I could have, Persephone. I left him for dead in the desert," Kyron stated, not grimacing or flinching from seeing her pain or telling her this. After a few moments of pause, he added, "At least you'll see him in a few moments, in the afterlife." Kyron readied his sword once more.
[12:14 PM] Kwakado: "All this time...you...you--!!!" Yuridia moved. Orpheus moved. And Persephone, white-hot with shock and passion...she moved. When Kyron's bride looked back, she saw him lying on the ground, with a wide gash across his throat mirroring her own scar. Blood gushed from it. "Kyron!" Hurrying to his side, and holding back sobs, she kneels by him. "Kyron....why?"
[12:21 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Kyron grabbed his neck, trying to prevent some of the blood loss. However, he finds himself looking upwards and moving his hand away, onto the ground. He sees Persephone. Through a coughing and wheezing fit, he manages to say, "I... didn't think it would be like this... It could have... been a better fight... for me..." After this, he plunges into a harder coughing fit, and after a few moments, his breathing stops.(edited)
[12:21 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: [I blame Kwak]
[12:40 PM] Kwakado: Holding his coughing head in her arm, Persephone slapped him savagely across the cheek, gasping empathetically for air. "Imbecile! Traitor! You..." As he fell motionless without even a retort, she shook him feebly. "You're the greatest knight of all Junith...Why couldn't you take me?!" With desperate haste, she pulls a second potion flask from his satchel and brings it to his lips. "Get up, I beg you....We've hardly even..." But it was too late. The spirit of vengeance had prevailed.
[12:41 PM] Kwakado: Persephone obtains Super Potion (2/3) and Kyron's Sword.(edited)
