Beauty and the Beast

[6:58 AM] Ignia: Artemis weighed the new flute in her hands, sensing the little bit of magic that ran through the new purchase. A flute said to grant energy to allies who hear it, huh... Softly, she decided to bring the flute up to her lips, deciding that her more favored, more somber songs didn't fit with the purpose. An older, more cheerful song came to her mind as she stood, playing through the notes once more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VasRcKgD5I4
[7:28 AM] See Through: "Ah, what a beautiful and peculiar sound! It resonates so sweetly!"(edited)
[7:29 AM] See Through: A mysterious man sits behind the flutist, catching her off guard by his rather surprising presence.
[7:33 AM] Ignia: Artemis whips around in surprise, her cloak following, as her off hand immediately flies to the tome strapped to her side, "W-who-" Her eyes narrow, taking in the stranger and composing herself, "You're the new addition, are you not?"
[7:52 AM] See Through: The wistful man nods as he slowly rises-- his own cloak and shawl wafting his sides with his hand offered to the woman in his attention. "You may call me that, but I do have a name, miss Sorine."
[7:58 AM] Ignia: The hand resting on her tome relaxes ever so slightly, the tension not entirely gone. It takes her a moment to recall the new name, "...Lior, I believe? And Artemis is just fine to use when refering to me." "How rude, however, to appear without warning behind a woman. "
[8:05 AM] See Through: Lior makes a silent giggles as his bangles and smile bounce buoyantly in a harmonic jingle. "Apologies for interrupting your beautiful play; I was in awe of your performance and could not restrain myself from commenting." He makes a forward with his hand and arm out once again, "I was, however, underneath this tree in search of shade the entire time."(edited)
[8:13 AM] Ignia: Artemis frowned, glancing around at her surroundings, noticing the slight difference from where she had started the song as compared to where she was now. It's been a while since I got caught up enough to not notice how closely I was following the song's movement. "You could have easily found shelther with the caravan." She commented, "I came this far out because it was my intention to not disturb anyone with my rusty playing." The thunder mage did reach out to shake his hand, despite her hesitation.(edited)
[8:28 AM] See Through: Lior softly pulls her hand as he leans to land a light kiss to her knuckles in cordial gesture. He looks back at Artemis with another sun-splendid smile, "Ah, then we both have much in common: I came this far for my own solice, as well."
[8:33 AM] Ignia: As soon as she could, without seeming too rude, Artemis pulled her hand back, happy that her cloak was casting shadows upon her face, for she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. "I-I see." She cleared her throat into her hand with a small cough, "...then what were you doing in the shade? Besides listening to my playing."
[9:07 AM] See Through: Chuckling at Artemis's shy nature (and now perhaps her unattended aversion towards the bard), Lior pulls his own instrument beneath his cloak-- a shawm made of brass wood, simple and elegant in its design.
[9:14 AM] Ignia: Her red eyes glittered with curiousity as she observed the instrument he presented, "...a shawm? I've never learned to play one but I've seen some street performers play them." Artemis sighed, "It wouldn't do if our playing mixed up with one another, I should probably distance myself..."
[9:18 AM] See Through: "Oh? What makes you say that? Your play was splendid!" The bard's own eyes glittering, as well, just from her own curiosity and interest in his antique instrument.
[9:22 AM] Ignia: "It's simply harder to pick out mistakes during practice if I hear someone else playing." She reverted to her matter-of-fact tone. "Two songs out of sync with one another would be rather discordant after all."(edited)
[9:30 AM] See Through: "You underestimate me, miss Sorine." Lior winks at her as he lifts the dual-reed on his lower lip, inhaling. "Why don't we try, at least once? You lead."
[9:35 AM] Ignia: "I told you, Artemis is just fine." In her father's eyes, she was barely even a member of the family anyways, so what reason would she have to be constantly reminded of the Sorine name. "...fine." She closed her eyes, mentally picking out a duet in her mind before bringing her new flute to her lips, "Let's see if you can follow along." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npk6L0NX3ko
[9:49 AM] See Through: As Artemis leads with her lighter, euphonic pitch, Lior closes his eyes in aim to concentrate on just the melody and keys alone. A smile even grander unveils from his current one, teeth gleaming like his silver-blonde hair and eyelashes as they sway into a small dance.
[9:53 AM] See Through: He places his lips in junction to her next phrase, breathing in as if Artemis's tune were aromatic fragerence to him. His entire presence seems so adventitious-- unworldly in his mannerism as he picks his flute-- yet he belonged there amidst the duet more than anywhere else.
[9:57 AM] See Through: And he plays: air exhaled into a current through the opening of the shawm as his instrument vibrates softly in his fingers in perfect harmony between Artemis's juxtaposing sweeter octave; the baritone notes amalgamate her pitch, and the two play away as the bard remains ethereal from his surrounding.(edited)
[10:03 AM] Ignia: As Artemis played the final note, she looked over to Lior with an impressed look, waiting for him to finish his part of the piece. I didn't even tell him what song I was about to play...
[10:15 AM] See Through: The musician ends, the play set and ready for his last note. He positions his fingers, triumphant and confident as anyone could ever be. The trees and and wind stop to hear the final and promised key intra such dynamic duet; the ultimate nail to their perfect melody.(edited)
[10:15 AM] See Through: It's a flat note.
[10:21 AM] Ignia: The thunder mage couldn't hold back the small laugh that came with the identification of the flat note, "...it was nice. Until that last note. You may want to watch yourself, the final note can make or break a performance."
[10:31 AM] See Through: Lior smiles, too, as he opens his eyes once again, "Yes, and I've accomplished making you laugh instead of tensing away from me: I'd say I've won the performance!"
[10:32 AM] See Through: "...Intentional, or not."
[10:39 AM] Ignia: "...there is no belief in your musical prowess at the moment. I would take that as a loss for you." She scoffed, "I only hope that your ability to fight is better than the display I just saw."
[10:51 AM] See Through: "That's a rather bemusing comment. Why must you be so suddenly jeery after our fantastic show?" Lior's face turns stolid as he goes back to pack his bags and other instruments that had been lying on the shade of the tree he was occupying. "Fighting fighting fighting. Everyone's just so focused on fighting..." He turns to Artemis after muttering (still leaning over and packing), "Rather dispiriting, wouldn't you say?"
[10:55 AM] Ignia: "...I'm a mage first, a tactician second, and a musician third." Artemis replied curtly. "I'd rather not see anymore amongst this group die simply because they can't handle the battlefield."
[11:02 AM] See Through: "But you are a mage: a woman of knowledge, understanding, and passion to learning. Gifted with power beyond any conventional man, yet you restrict yourself to be defined by your battlefield." He slings his arranged sack over his shoulders with one arm, turning to look towards Artemis. "Perhaps it may be out of necessity, but the way you belittled me regarding my aptitude in combat seems as if war is more pertinent to your character than it should be."
[11:09 AM] Ignia: "...perhaps." Artemis didn't think to dwell on it as much, "Perhaps it is a result of over a year of war. I will think of research and study in further detail when peace comes." "Comparsions to one's fighting abilities stop when the world stops fighting one another. For now, fighting, especially with this group is the means for survival."
[11:18 AM] See Through: Lior nods hesitantly; he understood Artemis's position very clearly, but was reluctant to accept her scoff towards him-- not from indignation of the comment, but because of the contrast in her attitude before and after such marvelous synchroneity with their song. He sighs as he walks up towards her, "So I am to be a soldier before a musician, even if I were to lie to my own heart?"
[11:29 AM] Ignia: "...no. But keep it in mind that in these times, being a soldier is more prized." This flute even... The thunder mage glanced down at the flute she was carrying before sighing, "The duet was nice, I'll admit. Thank you for that." She smiled slightly.
[11:37 AM] See Through: "No, thank you. That was a spectacular performance, and my own foolishness to draw your laughter in such a cheap fashion ruined the song's end. You are splendid with the flute, even if you may consider yourself anything before a musician."
[11:37 AM] See Through: "What was the song you played, by the way?"
[11:41 AM] Ignia: "Tale As Old as Time from a musical adaptation of an old childhood story, Beauty and the Beast." She replied, "It was the first duet that came to mind. Most people I know are content to simply listen rather than play alongside." "It was quite nice to work together with someone on music for once." She curtsied, "Perhaps, we can do it properly another time, without any flat notes."
[11:58 AM] See Through: "Hahahahaha, of course; it would be a delight! The pleasure is mine, mere chhote whistlair." And with a flick of his fingers in salutation of departure, winds chime through the forest as they bristle through leaves, waft behind Artemis, and flood the bard in mystical green brilliance; the spectacle wonderous and sensational as the warm breeze sweeps around Artemis's legs. The turbelent gust almost lifts Artemis off the ground, but the wind acts gentle, almost cradling the girl in the air. Lior himself is now invisible from Artemis's eyes; gone in a flash between the stream of green as the wind dissipates and tenderly place Artemis back on her feet.(edited)
[12:06 PM] Ignia: "...a wind mage even." Artemis sighed, "Well, Lior, huh?" She takes a moment to pack away her flute, returning it to her bag. "He's definitely a weird one..."
[12:07 PM] Ignia: ==END RP==
