Lysstråle and Die For Me! the Celestial Siblings

April 9, 2017
[4:37 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Finn led the two back into the throne room, where the golden throne had been somehow split and pushed to either side. Revealed in the ground from it was a wide and long staircase leading into the depths of the castle. Lit only by the light shining down onto it from the beautiful stained glass window across the room, Finn peeked down. "Hurry down, I'm awaiting you," came an echo from the bottom of the staircase.
[4:39 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo stared into the staircase, his sword and armor suddenly growing heavy on him. What could it be...? After a few seconds of contemplation, he slowly began to descend the staircase, giving a nod to Artemis along with a hesitant call. "Sister..."
[4:42 PM] Ignia: Artemis eyed the staircase carefully, following down her brother. "...your highness, what is this about?"
[4:44 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Finn looked over to Artemis, "I'm not quite sure, exactly. My father had requested that I bring the both of you here. That's him calling us down there now - I know he'd never pull a scheme or joke, so this must be very important."
[4:46 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo continues to descend, staring into the depths below. "Whatever His Majesty may require of us down here, it is our duty to see to it."
[4:48 PM] Ignia: "That's correct." The tactician nodded, allowing her brother to take point and continuing the rest of the way down in silence, bowing to the king whenever they would arrive in front of him.
[4:54 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Despite the apparent depth of the staircase, it only took the trio a few moments to reach the bottom, where they would encounter a large, open room. In the center of the room lays a raised platform, and around it, numerous symmetrical pillars. Standing next to the three steps that allow one to get ontop of the platform stood Letholdus, still in his outfit from his prison cell, though now holding a golden staff which was, from the ground, as tall as his shoulders were. "I've been awaiting you. Perhaps you remember this place, Phineas?" Letholdus stated. Finn looked around and shook his head. "Has it really been that long since we've last been down here?" he questioned to himself, "Oh well." The king stood still and silent for a moment, purposefully allowing suspense to build. After what might have felt like forever, he asked, "You must be wondering why I called you down here, aren't you?"
[4:56 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo kneels as he approaches Letholdus, gaze turned to the floor. "...ay, your majesty."
[4:57 PM] Ignia: Artemis followed her brother into a kneeling position, "Yes, your majesty."
[5:01 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Finn watched, silently. "No need for kneeling, at the moment. You must stand up to see what you're here to see." Letholdus turned around, facing the raised platform. He inspected it for a moment, just to be sure, then pointed the ornate, golden staff to what appeared to be a pedestal of white quartz or something similar, though they may not have been able to see it due to its height. He turned back around to face the siblings. "We're headed up to that. Follow me, would you?" He slowly stepped up the stairs, onto the raised platform.
[5:02 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo quickly rises, waiting for his sister.
[5:04 PM] Ignia: Artemis stands quickly, following quietly, observing the room around them and the pedestal they were approaching.
[5:04 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo follows aside her.
[5:12 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: As they approached the pedestal, the siblings would have been quick to noticed what was on it: Opened to its exact center lay an open book on the front of the pedestal. Enscribed with various magical sayings, runes, and symbols, the text of the supposed tome glowed brighter and brighter as the group got closer - perhaps even letting out a giggle-sounding noise once or twice. Upon further reading, it would be clear that it was a storybook of sorts. Behind it was a somewhat large sword, whose blade glowed a faint yellow. Its ornate and comfortable handle was black in color, and its pommel contained a bright orange stone which resembled the sun. Engraved somewhere along its blade was its name. Its matching sheath was propped up against the side of the pedestal's pillar. Clearly, however, it was not a Floribian sword. It was implanted in the top of the pedestal, similar to the story of King Arthur or the Master Sword. The king motioned for them to take a closer look, "Do you both happen to know what these are?"
[5:16 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo approaches the pedestal, holding back the urge to free the sword from its stone. "...the blade Lysstråle... its partner, Manark..." He whispers, awestruck, turning his head back to the king. "Your Majesty, my lord, how did you find this weapon?"(edited)
[5:20 PM] Ignia: Artemis approached the open book, reading what she could of the runes and symbols, without actually touching the tome. She started a bit, hearing the giggles louder as she approached and uttered in shock, still staring at the book, "...is this 'Die For Me!'?"
[5:28 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Exquisite! You do!" Happily responded Letholdus, who then turned to Lorenzo, "I figured you might ask that, Luigi. You must know the story behind the Lysstråle, correct? There's a long lost ending to that tale," Letholdus paused, then continued, "A few eclipses later, an awful battle between the ancient Ethysians and their greatest enemy at the time, a long lost nation no longer existant in Junith, broke out, and the temple that housed the mythical blade was destroyed. As such, Ostus took it upon himself to find a safer home for his blade until he was in need of his next Champion, and so he let it rest here. Thanks be to him that the Ethysians didn't find these wonderful treasures." The King then turned to Artemis, "You would be correct. Its a wonderous book, isn't it? Legend says an ancient princess had been eternally tied to its word long ago. How it got here is a mystery Equona may one day let us know, but for now, we just know that Equona entrusted Floribar with her."
[5:31 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo turns to the Lysstråle's hilt, then to the king again. "...what would you have us do with these?"
[5:33 PM] MCVII - The Whale: ...wait, does he not know my name?
[5:33 PM] Ignia: She reaches out for a moment towards the tome lying in front of her, before stopping midway. "Why did you bring Lorenzo and I here, your majesty? These are Floriban treasures."
[5:37 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Ah, its Lorenzo, not Luigi. Thank you for that," he chuckled despite the seriousness of the situation at hand. Letholdus gazed on the legendary treasures once more. "Well, you see, I was in that prison for quite a long time. Naturally, a very large portion of that time was spent praying. I have been led to believe, through some sort of divine intervention, that Ostus and Equona..," the kind paused, yet again. After a few moments, he continued, "Ostus and Equona wish for you two to be their next Champions. The have been watching you since the attack on Floribar, and I have been lead to believe they are very impressed with both of your results... So, go on, attempt and pick up these weapons from their resting place." Finn continued to watch in awe. At a few points he almost wanted to speak up, but he decided to stay back and not ruin the moment like he probably would if he spoke.
[5:39 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo rests a hand upon the white pedestal, staring down the embedded sword. "Sister... if you would please, claim yours first."
[5:49 PM] Ignia: "...right." The gods themselves...? The mage hesitated for a moment before reaching out to pick up the dark tome. In simply holding the tome, Artemis could feel the magic in it, alive and incredibly powerful. Yet, it was distorted in a sense, the power of a very alive soul emanating from the book. She allowed her fingertips to trace the castle on the cover of the book. Hehe! A soft giggle was all that was needed for Artemis to snap out of her awe, looking around for a moment before staring at the book. She whispered or so softly, a musing really, "...that was you."
[5:56 PM] MCVII - The Whale: Lorenzo faced the sword, gritting his teeth. "...right. Now..." With two hands, he grips the hilt of the sword tightly. Ostus himself... and I, his champion... With a grunt, Lorenzo pulls... and Lysstråle is freed from the stony prison with ease. He takes a moment to examine the blade--a silly mistake, as the bright light enclosing it makes him see spots. Without a word, he takes the sheath Manark and rests the blade in it, watching as the sheath begins to glow a milky white. "...it is done, then."
[5:58 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Letholdus nodded, "May Ostus and Equona be with you." He motioned for Finn to follow him, and they exited the room, leaving the siblings there with the legendary treasures. Finn waved on his way out.(edited)
