Freedom and Goals

March 6, 2017
[5:26 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: Alexandra trailed a bit behind the Caravan as they traveled, walking alongside Copernicus rather than riding on his back. Dear Olphira. My legs hurt, but they somehow hurt worse while I ride on my steeds back. Please, explain why this is so.
[5:35 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie, meanwhile, has decided to walk ahead of the group for a good while before eventually backing up when things got really... boring up there. Of course, that was also probably due to her not even paying attention and stumbling a lot. Regardless, she decided to fall towards the back of the group and hope she'd do okay.
[5:47 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: Alexandra trotted along. And now my feet ache. I doubt I can remount without help though, all things considered. She sighs. Maybe I can just sit down and rest. I can at least stand up myself still. If not, I can pull myself up with Copernicus's reigns. Perhaps...
[5:58 PM] NethaEmerald: Once Valerie was eventually at the back of the crowd, she noticed Alexandra. Valerie had seen a lot of this woman recently, and it looks like her work wasn't done yet. "You doing okay?" Val asked Alex.
[5:59 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Hmm?" Alexandra comes out of her focus, "I'm well, thank you. A bit sore, but nothing I can't handle."
[6:05 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie rose an eyebrow. "You sure? You're walking a little... stiff?"
[6:05 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "I'm fine. Sore, like I said," Alexandra shook her head.
[6:39 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie was a little sick of this little game Alexandra was playing. "I feel there's something more to it than you let on. You should probably take a rest instead of trying to ignore it."
[6:44 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: She grumbled, "You know damn we-" Dear Olphira, that's right. She left before I'd mentioned it... "I'm sorry," Alexandra sighed.
[6:46 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie recoiled at the grumbles, though held her ground when apologized to. "If you don't want me around, just say so..." Valerie mumbled.
[6:49 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "I'm sorry, its not that. I'd forgotten you'd left midway through our conversation with Phersephone on the boat," Alexandra shook her head, "I snapped for no reason, it was uncalled for."
[6:55 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie remembered that conversation very well... and part of her was glad very few even knew about what she herself thought about this confusing ring. "I see..." Valerie mumbled.
[6:58 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "My patience has been short of late. Of no one's fault but my own. I've just been stressed lately," Alexandra justified.
[7:02 PM] NethaEmerald: "Do you want to talk it our, or..." Valerie asked with some timidness.
[7:09 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "I... Don't know..." Alexandra sighed. I... suppose there's not point to hiding it. It will reveal itself eventually. And we are a bit detached from the group. So it wouldn't be as though I'd be realesing it into the open to sit. She looked around, "I... suppose. I'm going to have to tell everyone soon enough."
[7:11 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie tilted her head at this. "Ooh? Is it something big to do with you, hence your aches?"
[7:14 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Yes..." Alexandra sighed, "You see... I, ah... I am pregnant. Most defintely since we first left Dovania, but I hadn't realized it until it was a few weeks too late to go back."
[7:17 PM] NethaEmerald: At first... Valerie didn't believe her. "No... you're pulling my leg here..." However, upon realizing that Alexandra was telling the turth, Valerie's eyes narrowed a bit from the surprised state earlier. "And you're still fighting regardless? Why didn't you turn back instead of suffering through all of this so far?"
[7:18 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Because its my duty," Alexandra returned, "There's a reason I've not swung my blade as much as I'd initially claimed I would."
[7:23 PM] NethaEmerald: "And you think this is going to be good for the child? Riding around on horseback?"
[7:25 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Copernicus can go gently, if slow. My ranged staff helps me cover from afar rather than rushing like one normally would," Alexandra reasoned.
[7:26 PM] NethaEmerald: "Still, if you knew early on, why not turn around before we delved deep into enemy territory?"
[7:28 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Because, My Queen assigned me to accompany the refugee prince. I cannot betray the confidence she's placed in me," Alexandra insisted.
[7:33 PM] NethaEmerald: "If the kid comes out wrong, all you can do is blame yourself." Valerie thought to herself a little harhsly. Regardless, she just spoke up "Surely your child would be a valid enough excuse to have turned around..."
[7:36 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "It would be," Alexandra sighed, "If it weren't proof of my broken oath of celibacy."
[7:48 PM] NethaEmerald: "So you'd rather risk yourself and your child, all in the name of oaths?" Valerie asked, stunned. "So if you, for example, broke an oath of justice and righteousness by letting a hungry kid get away with stealing a single piece of bread, you'd sooner punish yourself all in the name of oath than use common sense?" "Guess that's why I like being a free spirit: can just back down if crap hits.."(edited)
[7:56 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "I... That's different, you must understand," Alexandra argued, grimacing, justifying, "Losing track of a loaf of bread is not comparable to jepordizing her majesty's safety."
[7:57 PM] NethaEmerald: "You're just proving my point. If your mission is so important, surely they'd send someone else in your stead if you weren't fully fit to serve."
[7:59 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "I've already written such a note to my Queen. I plan to entrust it to this caravan," Alexandra explains, "Until then, I must stayfast until my post can be filled."
[8:02 PM] NethaEmerald: "Maybe she had some normal sense... but she's still a little nutty to keep fighting with the pains the child is creating..." Valerie thought to herself. She just nodded to Alexandra, only saying "I see."
[8:10 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "You doubtlessly think it reckless," Alexandra begins, "Look at the situation from my perspective. All my life, I'd wanted nothing more than two things. A family and to Captain of Dovania's royal guard. After thinking myself barren after multiple attempts at a child, I pursued my other goal. I achieved that goal. But now, I'm not only finding out I am indeed not barren, but finding it out long after I'd achieved my alternate goal, after I'd been sent on a chase across to world. But now I am having to choose between my life's aspirations. Do I abandon my title and nuture a family, or..." She winced at her own implication.
[8:17 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie listened. It was easy herself to make that choice: family. She already gave up her military honor by seeking to aid Prince Finn. "Perhaps i'm not the best to ask because I gave up any goals I had to come here..."
[8:24 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Perhaps not. But your words have given me pause nonetheless," Alexandra sighed.
[8:32 PM] NethaEmerald: "Don't know if that's good or bad, but maybe i'll let you have some alone time..."
[8:34 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: "Very well. Thank you," Alexandra's shoulders slumped, "I'd appriciate if you didn't tell anyone for now. I'm still figuring how to tell the group."
[8:38 PM] NethaEmerald: Valerie made a motion of locking her lips shut, then went off to go further ahead in the group again.
[8:41 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: Olphira, please send me your guidance.
[8:53 PM] Ulamog, the Omnom Cthulhu: == === ==
