Coconuts

Deallocate-Yesterday at 10:10 PM

"Ha! This is perfect!" Shanoa was standing in the midst of the weapons convoy, happily holding a piece of curved, polished wood. Around her was a chaotic mess of scattered weapons and equipment. "Just the right tool for the job. Now to exit..." She careful stepped through the destruction that remained of the convoy, before extricating herself from the room. She glanced back at the mess in the room, before shrugging and heading off towards the beach.

Valerie was already on the beach weirdly enough. It wasn't a usual place that she every frequented, but this was one such exception. Another oddity for her was that she was actually aiming to take in some sun, which meant she was dressed for just such an occasion. She was laying on her back on a towel with really nobody else around since the thirsty men were going more for the less-muscular, busty women. Valerie didn't care much about it; less distractions for her.

"Boo!" Shanoa leapt forward from where she had been silently creeping up on the other woman, and grinned a few inches above Valerie's face.

Valerie opened one eye, and without being scared one bit, looked at Shanoa and said "Oh... hey." As Valerie now slowly started to sit up, being careful to move around Shanoa's face. Of course Valerie was showing a lot of skin, but she could easily put on the typical clothes she wears without much of an issue if need be.(edited)

Shanoa casually sat down next to Valerie and leaned against her bag. She stuck her tongue out. "You're no fun. Girls are supposed to get scared easily."

Valerie looked at Shanoa leaning on her bag and said "If you've seen some of the stuff I have, not much outside of magic scares you." She had seen Wyverns screaming at her and attempting to come right at her: a simply 'boo' did nothing to her now. "Also, careful; that bag has my stuff on it." Valerie also pointed out.

Shanoa leaned less heavily on the bag. "Okay, fair enough. But that doesn't stop the other experienced women from jumping 5 feet in the air." She observed Valerie's notable lack of clothing. "What are you doing out here anyway?"

"Please be careful with the bag." Valerie repeated once again to Shanoa, this time with some more sternness to her voice. However, when she heard everything else Shanoa said, Valerie nodded and said "Well, one: Seeing Wyverns want to rip you apart is far scarier than a boo. Two, I was looking to get some sun, relax, and maybe get some attention..." The last part had a hint of jealousy in it because of how every other lady seemed to have better luck with attracting attention than she had.

Shanoa leaned less heavily on the bag. "Attention? You?" She raised an eyebrow. "I always got the feeling you weren't into that kind of thing. How's it working for you?" Her eyes took stock of the other woman's body. Certainly not a bad look...(edited)

Valerie just giggled a little. "I like to try and have fun every once in a while." with a small grin to her face. She looked at the bag and slowly tried to get it closer to her. "Anyways, what brought you here? Didn't expect to see you here."

Shanoa made no effort to prevent her efforts. She held up the curved piece of wood she got earlier from the convoy. "I was going to use this to knock down a coconut. I've heard about them before. You can throw them at things. And they're supposed to come back." She glanced down at it dubiously. "Apparently."

Valerie had to hold in some laughter. "You seriously expect it to come right back to you with the coconut attached to it?" The sword fighter asked as she went into her bag and examined her clothes. "Thank goodness that her leaning didn't make the blade cut any of them." She thought to herself as she pulled out her standard dress-thing and started to get it on. There wasn't any need for Shanoa to look away because she was already showing a lot off, and not like she was taking anything off either.

Shanoa pouted. "No, I just figured it would knock the coconut to the ground. And then come back by itself." She cocked her head at the other woman. "You don't have to get dressed, you know."

Valerie looked at Shanoa, a little surprised. "You want me to not put it on then?" She asked, a little confused. She was doing it more out of courtesy than anything else. That, and if they were to be dealing with trees and coconuts, she wanted something more on than what she was wearing while laying down.

The witch dug her bare toes into the sand. "I didn't mean that." She grinned. "Actually, never mind me. You do as you please."

Valerie was clearly confused at the messages Shanoa was getting across. It showed when she actually stood still for a little bit before finally putting her standard clothing on. Once she was all dressed, and bag in tow, she asked Shanoa "Which trees were you aiming for?"

Shanoa hopped to her feet. "Originally, I had planned to try and climb the shortest tree. But now that I have my throwing stick, any one will do." She pointed to the nearest coconut tree. "Onwards!" The herbalist began running as fast as she could barefoot through the soft sand.

Valerie laughed a little at Shanoa's enthusiasm. "Wish I had that much enthusiasm over something so simple..." She thought to herself, a little sadly. Regardless, she was following along, though more as a brisk walk than actual running; she didn't want to get her normal clothes too covered in sand, after all.

Shanoa stood a few feet away from the base of the palm tree. She had one eye closed, and was aiming her stick at a coconut carefully. "Watch and learn, Valerie! With enough talent and skill, anybody can master a weapon on their first try. And this is no different!"

Valerie just stood back when Shanoa was going to throw the boomerang. "I might have to help her soon." She thought to herself, wondering how well the first toss would go.

It could have gone worse. The polished stick made it a good 5 feet before it plopped in the sand. "..." Shanoa stood on one foot, still in the pose in which she had 'expertly' thrown the weapon. "I think I miscalculated the trajectory by a few inches..."

"Want me to give it a try?" Valerie asked Shanoa, moving closer to the base of the tree, and the other woman, to get in a slightly more advantageous position.(edited)

"Hmph. Sure." She picked the weapon out of the sand and handed it to Valerie. "But I doubt you'll have much success. It's a tricky weapon, only useful in the hands of a prodigy."

Valerie just grinned as she look up at the tree. There was about 8 feet to clear with the weapon going up. Valerie took in a deep breath as she took the weapon in two hands and tossed it not directly at the coconut, but a little off from it. The wooden tool went into the sky, slightly curving, as it eventually hit the branch that the coconut was on. It wasn't close enough as it barely grazed the coconut before falling flat down to the sand below, no spoils from her attempt.

Shanoa crossed her arms. "Not a bad attempt. You show promise, my student. One day you might even be as skilled as me, the master of polished-stick throwing."

"Please, I was closer to the mark than you were!" Valerie exclaimed back to Shanoa, picking up the boomerang one more time. "Helps me than it throws much like a sword." She mentioned back before letting Shanoa give another go at it.(edited)

"Hmm. Perhaps I shall take your advice." After taking the stick, she expertly flicked her wrist, sending it through the air silently and effortlessly. This time, it went three feet.

"..." Valerie had no comment on that. Instead of trying the boomerang, she pulled the little blade she had of her own out and tosses it up, hitting her mark straight on, causing it to shake and eventually fall to the sand below...

Shanoa frowned. "That's cheating!" she uttered petulantly. Regardless, she went over to the coconut and inspects it. "Thanks, though..."

"How is it cheating? I'm using something I know more and can use better. Also, two tools are better than one!" Valerie explained back, seeming to ignore the second thing Shanoa said. Maybe now she could go back to her beach spot...

Shanoa picked up the blade and lightly tossed it to the other woman. "Hey, if I had known that anything was allowed, I would have just burned the midsection of the tree to a crisp, and watched the whole thing fall down."

"But that would mean you kill the tree from producing more coconuts." Valerie retorted back as she hid the blade back under her clothing.

"A worthy sacrifice." she said, not believing her own words for a second. "I suppose I should return the stick now. And go process the coconut..." She grins. "But it was nice seeing you, Valerie!"

Valerie nodded and responded back with "Was a nice distraction. Now, I might go back to what I was doing before for a few more hours; feel free to join me if you wish."

Shanoa giggled. "Aww, thanks, but I'm afraid I don't have anything suitable to wear." "And anyhow, nobody would pay any attention to me next to a beauty like you!"

Valerie laughed a little and said "Please; they'd be drooling over you before they would to me." with a small, friendly smile on her face.

"Pff. If you have that little confidence in your charms, you might be very well right about that." She gave a small wave before heading back towards the convoy. "Good luck with your hunting!"

Valerie waved back without as much as a word there. "Maybe I should take more confidence in myself... I just feel inferior to most of the other women in the army that can hit harder and take more damage than I can. Maybe I ought to feel better about myself." Valerie ended up thinking to herself as she slowly moved back to the spot she was originally at, despite the weird looks she got for what she just did.
