Path to Recovery

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

It was the day right after the battle that occured away from the rest of the army almost at the dead of last night. Valerie sat underneath a tree with bandages across her entire torso, feeling at least fine enough to get up and move, though not much else. Rested in the palm of an open hand rested a ring; a ring she got last night. Her mind kept going back to that battle. She was so cocky she would win while they were working to save the queen, but alas, it wasn't the case. All it took was one, deep slash from the Wyvern Rider's axe to take her down. Kristyn's words echoed in Valerie's head. Nothing specific; the entire thing, but what hurt Valerie the most was the whole friend thing. She was confused about how to feel about that. She thought that Kristyn was done with her, but it's clear that wasn't the case. Valerie had grown used to the idea of them being apart, but the compassion about it Kristyn spoke with... it was making Valerie question if she made the right decision a little. At the end of the day, she knew she was, but she hadn't considered how others back home would feel. Regardless, Valerie sat underneath the tree, legs close to her torso, the open palm not far from them. With a tight grip, Valerie closed her eyes and looked down; both from the physical pain and emotional turmoil.

Churchill woke up that day to pain, searing, sharp, overwhelming pain. The last thing that he clearly remembered was him nearly being cleaved in two by a Wyvern Knight during the battle the day before. After that, he had faded in and out of consciousness as he was treated, restored back to health. When he woke up that morning, all the proof he had of his ordeal was the bandages and the pain. Churchill wasn't however, going to just sit there. Later in the day, Churchill managed to convince the doctor in charge that he was able to walk and that the air would do him good. With a cane on hand to keep him upright, Church walked the campgrounds, eventually coming across a tree with a familiar face sitting underneath it. "Oh, hello there...what was your name again?"

Valerie heard someone coming, but didn't bother looking up right away. Even after they addressed her, she kept her head down low for a good moment longer before unclenching the ring and responding with "What's it to you?" She was still looking down; it was clear she wasn't in a terribly good mood to be talking about things like names of all things. After a moment, she realized her mistake and looked up with one eye, hair drooping down over her face with the bandana noticably gone. "Sorry..." She said as an apology, then taking a sigh and following up with "It's been a long week."

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"Well, to answer your question, it means quite a bit. If I may ask, what's been going on?" Seeing the lady's state, he couldn't help but wonder what brought her so low. Damn, my legs are getting weak, guess I've been out too long Churchill leans more on his cane.

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

Valerie looked back down for a moment. She wasn't sure she was even ready to talk about it. Well, maybe not to Churchill per-say, but that was only because she didn't know him well, not that she never would. She had noticed he got banged up, but didn't ask him about it because he asked about her condition first. "Got into a fight last night... and lost." She quietly muttered, gripping the ring once more.

Noticing the grip, Churchill says nothing, respecting her secret. Deciding to sit before he collapses, he settles into the ground. "Now that, I understand. Got on the receiving end of an axe specifically designed to end me." Looking the woman over, he does see her banged up person. "Who'd you fight? A giant?"

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

"Same situation as you." Valerie quietly muttered, moving the ring to her other palm. "Sorry if i'm stiff, but i'm not in the best of moods for many reason." She added on, looking up at Churchill finally. It was clear she was suffering from a lack of sleep, not to mention some slightly red eyes.

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"I get it, though I don't pretend to understand. Seems like this beating you've taken was...personal, I guess. Though I get why you wouldn't want to tell me." Churchill starts to cough at this comment, his wound seemingly acting up

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

Valerie watched as Churchill coughed. "Don't you think you should rest?" She tiredly said to the other man, showing however much concern she could past her fatigued expression. She was probably being hypocritical there, but she knew Kristyn wasn't aiming to kill per-say with their duel, which was odd.

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"Rest? I can't stand lying around, sent most of the morning doing so.Thought some fresh air would do me good. Could say the same to you, though, you look like you've barely rested." Churchill chuckles at the irony of the situation and how hollow it sounds to him

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

Valerie just looked at Churchill unamused and said "That's what every woman wants to hear." though it was clear she didn't take it too seriously. "Anyways, I know, but... I just can't right now. I'm confused and need to sort it out before I can."

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"I can tell, though it would seem that you aren't doing yourself too much god, physically OR mentally." Churchill's head drops and soon raises to show a spent face, one that stays. "Sorry for my rudeness but I don't think you can sort anything out if you're sleep-deprived, I've found."

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

Valerie looked away and sighed. "I know, but it's also keeping me awake. I figure i'll let my body force me to sleep so that way i'm forced to." as she let out a huge yawn when she was done saying that.

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"Heheh. Seems like your body is going to make the decision for you. Then again, what do I know?" As he spoke, he scratched at the back at his head.

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

Valerie slowly stood up, gripping arpund her chest with her open hand as she did so. "I think it wants it now. Sorry if this wasn't very long at all..." She said, looking down and a little guilty.

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"Oh it's no real problem, though it seems the more we interact, the more of a mystery you become. Maybe we should chat sometime, actually sit down and get to know each other. It would definitely be nice to know someone in this outfit" The last sentence comes out of his mouth with some tinges of regret

NethaEmerald-11/15/2016

Valerie looked down to Churchill past her drooping hair with a soft smile and said "Maybe, but not now." She said as she slowly started to walk away, though after the first step, said "Let me know if you need anything."

Persoon56-11/15/2016

"Thanks, I'll keep that offer in mind. And, if you need someone to talk to, I hope you have someone to turn to, maybe it'll be better than suffering alone" Churchill stands with some difficulty, leaning on his cane, going off to the medical tent
