LadyDeme-Last Tuesday at 9:01 PM
The theatre district was bustling as evening drew near -- and with it, a wave of small stormclouds, looming overhead and blocking out the luxurius colors of the evening sky. Lamplighters were bustling around the theater entrances as staff started filing in for evening shows. Musicians busked on the streetcorners, creating an orchestra you could hear only strains of as you circled the streets.
As Delphine was doing, eyeing the posters and listings for shows, pinned to the theatre walls. She was dressed for an evening out, wearing a floaty, summery dress, but a long one, of a rich gold color that made her hair pop and her eyes look very nearly as blue -- with a ribbon, topped with a false flower, wrapping to emphasize her waist. A series of small tropical flowers interspersed through her over-the-shoulder braid. Here, on a broad street, she could see rows of possibilities for how to spend it -- a tragedy here, a romance there, an opera. She sighed, a little forelornly, as she eyed a poster with a date on it -- a date a few weeks off, still. I Want To Be Your Canary, an old favorite. She hadn't seen it for years. She shrugged and shook her head before idling along, looking at her options.(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Tuesday at 9:38 PM
Strolling along the same street was Lorenzo, dressed in his usual clothes under his armor, the mossy tunic hanging a bit tight on him. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. Unfortunate that I have to go out in something so ill-fitting... but I'll manage. Not like my armor is any more constricting. Shaking the self-consciousness away, he smiled, eyes flickering over all the sights until he spotted--
"Delphine? Delphine!" He chuckled, so surprised to see her out of uniform, and began speed-walking toward her. "What a grand coincidence, that I'd find you here!"
LadyDeme-Last Tuesday at 9:59 PM
She around in a flutter when she heard her own name called, a smile splitting her face. She hurried over towards him, abandoning her examination of the posters for a time being, her steps light with the pleasant mood of the evening. She didn't consider his outfit much, besides a gentle surprise that he, in fact, still had a form beneath his armor, and was not just a suit and a head, like a ghost -- it wasn't like everyone had gotten the chance to pack clothes and money, and she expected at least a little practicality.
"Oh, Lorenzo! I suppose you could call it serendipity -- but is it really a surprise?" She asked, her voice a little jesting, keeping that smile on her face. "After all, nothing's started yet, so I couldn't have snuck inside... Of course, if it were that easy, we'd have run into each other here sooner, I suppose."
She fell in step beside him, so they didn't block foot traffic, heading towards the sound of a fiddle on one corner.(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Tuesday at 10:10 PM
He followed her walk, not exactly sure where he was going himself at that point. He found himself frequently pausing his gaze to observe her floral wear, which reminded him of his armor--though he barely glanced over the flower adorning her waist before quickly looking away. His smirk curled slightly from her remark. "Oh, perhaps it's fate, then. We are in the district of theater, where the fabricated is made true... but don't tell me you're thinking of sneaking in without paying?"
LadyDeme-Last Tuesday at 10:30 PM
"If we're in the world of fabrications, perhaps it's not fate, but the hand of a playwright -- we walk across this stage, and pretend it's not a set. I wonder what sort of thing we'll be acting out tonight?"
She motioned to the people going about their business, each engrossed in a little world that skimmed their across the surface. The crowds had a relaxed air, and she wondered for a moment, no more than the shadow of a bird overhead, if the set was that there was no war going on, leagues away -- but then again, it was leagues away. She didn't know where Finn planned to take them next, but it seemed they had time to figure that out, here. Either way, the bustle felt like the opening of an act of a light opera, where the chorus might burst in.
"Oh, please, no. I only meant that I'd have to sneak about to evade you, like a thief," she said, waving a hand flippantly -- for a moment, her expression was sardonic, but she went on more seriously, "If you love something, you have to take care of it, right?"
AOMidori20-Last Tuesday at 10:41 PM
Lorenzo nodded, looking up past the crowd into the sky. "Oh, of course, certainly...!"
His smile faded as he stared up into the darkening sky.
He didn't like those clouds. They looked dark, uninviting... gloomy. And gloom was not something he tolerated easily, especially with such a trusted friend as Delphine--one of two people in his new army--the same one, but not that one--especially with Delphine so close by. He lingered there, staring at the clouds as if they had insulted him, then his attention flicked back to his companion and the smile returned, a mite smaller. "And the two of us, lovers of the arts, aren't we?"
LadyDeme-Last Tuesday at 10:52 PM
"Quite so. So it's only natural that I support their work, not take a seat from them for nothing." It was, after all, a thing her position granted her -- not just the pleasure of affording a show, even in a troubled time, but also the ability to use that wealth to see shows blossom up. But her efforts in this regard sat in wildly uncertain terms. She looked over to him in the silence that allowed that thought to creep up, a little twitch in the muscles of her neck -- and found him looking just a little uneasy.
"Is everything quite alright?"
AOMidori20-Last Tuesday at 10:56 PM
"Hm?" He raised an eyebrow, not withdrawing his smirk. Perhaps he had lingered too long; it was, ultimately, a mistake to do so. But it was hard to help--those clouds looked awfully dark and foreboding to him. But they were just clouds, and they were so far away, it seemed...
...and down the thought went, stuffed down into the nook of his mind. "Ah. It's all quite charming, Delphine, don't worry. I'm a tad concerned about the approaching rain, is all."
October 12, 2016
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 8:42 AM
"Quite charming, hmmm?" An unusual choice of words -- and given the context, maybe not wholly settling. Things could be charming without being OK after all. She looked up at the sky as well, the rain still brewing somewhere up above -- she'd heard brief squalls were common in the tropics, so a part of her wasn't terribly concerned.
"Well, a little drop of rain can hardly hurt me, now," she answered with a faint smile. "But, well, why don't we pick a show for the evening? Even if it rains, you can't get wet if you're inside a theatre."
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 10:21 AM
He nodded, quickly trying to dismiss his unsettlement with laughter. "Ha, yes, you're more than right... goodness, I hope my armor's stowed away properly..." He remembered his journal, quickly retrieving it from his pocket. "Ah! A show. Yes, I could take some more notes for my performances..."
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 3:26 PM
"Would you have left it outside?" She asked, an eyebrow raised. She'd have expected him to have it stored away on his own, but the possibility remained. Was that what was bothering him? Considering their earlier conversation, it hardly seemed fair -- but she couldn't help but be a little sympathetic.
"That sounds like a good idea; inspiration waits for no one, after all... But are you sure you're OK? I mean, really. You're quite on-edge." She said, her voice dipping a little, losing a joking tone.
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 3:47 PM
He shrugged both inquiries off, giving a genuine smile and nod. The clouds wouldn't--they couldn't, he corrected--distract him, especially not with Delphine, in his most favorite part of any city. "Oh, I'm fine, Delphine! Nothing you yourself didn't already heal, eh? I remember, now, my armor's all stored and protected in its chest. I assure you, the only edges I am handling belong in the armory, and certainly not here."
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 4:09 PM
"Alright, then." That seemed more sincere; perhaps he was just worried about the weather. Neither of them came prepared for it after all, and he did have his notebook -- so they'd have to get in before them, and wait it out until it passed.
"Flatterer -- but you did splendid work, before. Seeing that armor in action was impressive... Now, for your inspiration -- what sort of tale will do? A comedy? A historical story of strife? A tragedy?"
She walked along, gesturing to the posters, with names ranging from the elegant to the trashy on the fronts of the buildings -- paintings of feather-pens and skulls and swords, swooning heroines and windswept heroes to entice, muddled in with strange creatures and clowns for good measure.
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 4:16 PM
Lorenzo sighed, taking a look over them all, sad that he couldn't watch every single one as a 'welcome back' gift for himself. He muttered from the corner of his mouth. "Pah, who's the flatterer now...?" After a few seconds, he spoke up. "Well, I want my first acted show since my enrollment to have a high note, so why don't we find a comedy with romance?"
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 4:27 PM
It'll keep the performance rolling, huh? She thought to herself, at least a little amused by the disconnect between what had come before this town and the town itself, the lights guiding them through the growing dark. Well, that may be a little harsh.
"Hmmm... Well, have you seen this one?" She gestured to a poster featuring four people around a flower. "Rather emphasizing the comedy -- but I've seen the folio, but not the show. It has some charming metatextual elements. Or we could find something neither of us knows, and take a chance as to what it'll be."
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 4:30 PM
Lorenzo shrugged, scanning the poster, arms folded about his chest. "Well, it certainly seems interesting. I... am not seeing a name on there, where is it...?"
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 4:36 PM
She gestured to the upper-left corner, where the name Fantasy of a Summer Eve was written in sprawling text -- the other corner had the dates it'd run written in the corner -- they were somewhere in the middle of its run, it seemed.
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 4:40 PM
He nods. "Ah, yes, thank you. Lovely title, at least... I'm sure it will be a delightful show. Let's see that one." Lorenzo sighed. "...I missed this, you know."(edited)
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 5:01 PM
She smiled softly as she stepped towards the line for the ticket sales.
"...As have I." She said it with a sort of soft sigh. The two of them hadn't really had much chance for going places physically like this -- it had always been something of a special occaison, often literally. The sort of unavoidable instance where counts not having their children and heirs in attendence would be worse than having an unruly child in attendence. Unless he meant the simple act of theatre-going -- and even that seemed a little distant to her.
"...You know, I went to a few shows, while I was in Arcias," she said, in a thoughtful voice. "Somehow, I doubt they'll be as interesting as this one -- even if the actors and the stage were the same, the script identitical. But for you, it's been an even longer time, huh?"(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 5:10 PM
He nodded, then nodded again, close by her side. "Oh, indeed. What little time I've spent on leave was never nearby any shows. Taking lives has become my life, I must say. No time anymore for me to go out and enjoy myself like this... must be the privilege of the higher-up noblemen, hm?" His arms rubbed themselves as he thought, unable to place an exact date to when he saw his last show--the ones he fabricated while being a faceless mass of armor lower on the food chain, unfortunately, didn't count. "But I do agree with you. I suppose there's a bit of charm to it, seeing a show near your home."
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 5:18 PM
"That's..." she paused, unsure what to say in that idea -- in the face of him having spent so long simply fighting, killing or being killed, was a gloomy one in her heart. Maybe she'd just been born soft; she doubted, truly doubted, that she lived in a world where that could change. So she kept pushing.
"I don't think it's only the domain of noblemen -- nor would I wish it to be. You need to find a way to keep your heart alive, even in the face of such work. If you love something, you must take care of it," She repeated, looking at the line -- all of whom were of lower both than the two young nobles waiting behind them as they advanced.
"Oh, yes. Well, I was working on that, too -- but I meant more that I had too much on my mind, and felt too alone. My mother is terrible company for this sort of thing." Delphine shook her head, as if fondly -- throwing the last part out to soften it. Her mother had little patience for the sort of folly that kept a story moving, or the way it examined people with only feeling in mind. She may have enjoyed clever verse, but it was a different matter.
"Here, I have at least fine company."
And I'm satisfied with my choice.
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 5:31 PM
Lorenzo shrugged, smile inching its way across his face again. "Ah, it's kind of you to say, that I am such good company. But..." Now it was his turn to shake his head. "I do love the arts, Delphine, I truly do... but I love my family, much more. I'd break Arti's heart if I was slain in battle, so I have to devote everything to ensure it doesn't happen. That was, at least, what I had been thinking as a common soldier. Now, in Prince Finn's army, everything's much more... free. There's space between days, you know. Something I can finally fill with this. That's what I mean about noblemen--the regular force I was a part of barely saw any town we weren't trying to attack." Another shrug. "Though, then again, all my efforts brought me here, so I suppose I'm using my love for both to be a better soldier."
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 5:39 PM
"No, I didn't mean the arts. I meant yourself. Even if it keeps you alive physically, if all you do is kill or be killed, that's not really living -- and it's not taking care of yourself. Battle fatigue is a real thing, Lorenzo." She'd taken few studies seriously, but there had been a time when she'd truly tried with healing, and she'd picked up a few things. And it'd caught her attention that, especially within writings from temple healers, the great concern for soliders were not their bodies, but their minds -- if they lived too long in only war, the war would never leave them.
"In times of war, that might be a little unavoidable, but we had a long peace before that, and you all need to consider your hearts and morale outside the battlefield, too... You have a good heart. It'd be a shame to see it broken down. Besides... Not everyone in this army is high nobility. Maybe that's not all a soldier's life, but just a bad commander you had."(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 5:49 PM
Lorenzo smiled, and nodded. He felt a twinge of guilt within him, having to bury his words down within like he did with others. He clicked his tongue, thinking. She couldn't understand... "I... thank you for the words, Delphine. I'll surely consider it." Upon her addition, his brow furrowed, and the smile shrank. "My friend, it was not the fault of the commander. Perhaps more armies have greater leisure than mine did, however my commander did no wrong. Maybe it's simply because we knew we were fighting a losing war, and had to do our best to keep alive, as well."
Discussing his experience troubled him, to say the least. It felt coarse, abrasive; something he was planning to put away for a long time, anyhow. Trying to dismiss the subject, he glances back to the ticket line. "Is it our turn for tickets yet?"
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 6:01 PM
"You likely won't, because I'm a soft civillian,"
She said, jesting a little -- and sadly, with a little shrug as if she accepted his appeasement. She'd heard that click. ...But then she paused. She had thought he'd been speaking of the whole of his career -- which, as she understood it, was longer than just a year.
"...Are you speaking only of this war, though? If so... That's more understandable, at least. I'm sorry if I snapped. But my point remains. Accepting only death, for all days, as the lot of a soldier, or a common man, and not an extension of circumstance is... Well, if that's the state of the system, it's a broken one. Even sailors go mad without leave."
She relaxed, then, as the line dwindled, and smiled again as they came before the counter. She set down the cost of two tickets without any comment besides,
"But that's enough of my nascent plans to overthrow the military and add bows to all the bows. I won't let it intrude on a precious evening off any further. I am sorry to have brought it up."
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 6:11 PM
Lorenzo nods again, the smile growing back, and he brings him arm around to hug her from the side, squeezing before quickly detaching. "Of course. I would love to listen to your devilish plots to have everyone lay down their weapons and have our generals have tea parties--" he says it sarcastically--"but perhaps to distract myself from being a soldier. My only sore spot was you jabbing at my commander, which I forgive you for... But my armor's off now, so I am Lorenzo Sorine, lover of the arts, and..." He sighs. Saying such a thing was a weight off his chest greater than his armor... but why? "...I couldn't feel better! So let's focus on the show. I trust you'll be paying for the tickets?"
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 6:48 PM
She laughed at his joke, leaning into his hug -- it was a strange sort of relief, to get a warm gesture without tears around it. It made that whole side feel warm, and it spread over her -- not heated, or even flush, but the sort of easy golden warmth of strong sunlight on a winter's day. She folded an arm over his back -- ha, without the layers of armor on, she could actually reach all the way to his far side! It had been a while, and she smiled with a sincere warmth when the laughter had bubbled its last.
"Exactly so! I really am glad to hear it, too. And anyway, the money's already on the counter," she said, brandishing the two tickets as she recieved them, passing one to him without further ado, and walking towards the entrance of the theatre itself.(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 6:55 PM
Lorenzo blinked a few times, taking the ticket in his hand. He was a bit lost for words--did he really get so lost in his thoughts? Not wanting to be left all alone, he followed after her at a brisk pace. "Goodness, I must have lost track of what we were doing. Time flies, it seems!"
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 7:10 PM
"It always does -- if you want time to pass, you need only need be involved in something. "
Inside, the crowd was gathering out -- with a few tokens of the show being sold at kiosks, and some small foods and drinks, with the intent of satiating the crowd -- especially for those slow bits where certain people might feel inclined to shout suggestions at the stage. It'd happened -- though this theatre had the suggestion it wouldn't stand for it.
"Do we want anything?"
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 7:11 PM
He shrugs, rubbing the back of his head. "Oh, goodness... I'm never good at deciding on getting things. What do you want?"
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 7:18 PM
She peered up through the lines around the food kiosks. She considered a few options -- they had some alcohol she considered briefly, but agreed against, but they had a few tropical fruit drinks that sounded interesting -- but perhaps better-suited to a day at the market, or on the beach.
"Hmmm... Nothing especially -- oh, scratch that. It looks like they've got roasted almonds -- ooh, but they've dipped them in chocolate! Have you taken the time to have any? I've had some sipping chocolate, and it was really very tasty."
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 7:22 PM
"Truly? Well, perhaps we should get some, then." He stared down at the nuts. While he really wasn't one for snacking during a show, he had confidence in Delphine's opinion.
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 7:33 PM
This she also paid for -- and considered it, on the whole, to be quite cheap. Considering that such a thing would be exorbinantly expensive back home, she appreciated the opportunity to do so cheaply.
"There -- we'll worry about it mainly during intermission and before they set up, but I had a small dinner."
She examined her ticket, reading the number and keeping it in mind. It meant nothing, sight of the theatre itself unseen, and so with the nuts purchased, it was simply a matter of hunting them down in the rows. The theatre had an ampitheatre style, with a great domed roof that made it seem like half a world, a valut of heaven painted above them. There wasn't a balcony, but in amidst that faux-starry sky were a few boxes, for the rich men of the city. Their seats were fairly high and back, though at least there were no pillars in the way.(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 7:39 PM
Once they finally reached their seats, Lorenzo released a sigh. His voice dropped low. "Here we are... unfortunate that we got here so late. Could have gotten better seats. Hopefully they use some magic or something so that it's more audible." He had heard of something like that from one of his comrades, some sort of tome that allowed people to be louder when speaking through it. Gods, what was its name...? He shrugged to himself, and willed that he would ask his sister later.
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 7:45 PM
"Well, the accoustics in the room are pretty good -- but with any luck, they'll have something in mind. I only hope that if they do, that hasn't caused the troupe to forget their fundementals," she half-whispered, considering the value of projection. She tilted her cone of chocolate almonds towards him, offering him one while the semicircle of the curtain twitched slightly.
"Though... I won't say I won't mind. Frankly, I should have brought my opera glasses, but. Well.. I actually rather didn't expect this trip to turn out this way."
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 7:49 PM
Lorenzo leaned over, nibbling like a bird one that was dangling on the edge of the cone off and nodding in gratitude. "Oh, yes, that's right...! I would have brought a pair, but... well, you know."
LadyDeme-Last Wednesday at 7:54 PM
"I know," she said, agreeing with a nod. It was just not something you packed when joining the army or running away from home. The curtain stirred gently, and the lamps around the stage were unveiled -- the lamps further out, each slowly covered, so the light was dim.
Delphine settled further into her seat, a grin of anticipation on her face for the show to begin.
AOMidori20-Last Wednesday at 7:57 PM
Lorenzo was a bit surprised that she declined to react to his admittedly silly peck of her food, but decided to sit back, holding his head with his arms, stretching his legs. The same smile spread to the armor's face as he waited.
October 13, 2016
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 7:26 AM
The curtain rose, and for a time, the world was different. Lovers chased each other in the woods, tricked into different configurations. Gods and their servants held court and acted out spite and tricked them. Men put on a tragedy and terribly, and somewhere in this, there was a subplot about one of them with a Donkey's head. Eventually, everyone had someone to love.
In the audience, Delphine occaisonally glanced over at Lorenzo, her expressive face making her thoughts clear -- was he enjoying his time? This bit was exceptionally good, this eye-rolling, here she was tittering into her hand. Things had been audible enough, and she'd nodded as if satisfied.
"Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends."
Said the final actor, alone on an empty stage, before the curtain fell and the curtain call began. Delphine let out a breath like she'd been holding one in, and joined in the applause.
AOMidori20-Last Thursday at 1:00 PM
Lorenzo had problems calculating the love and who truly loves who--and if this person was loving that one, but was that deceit? or perhaps they're faking--but he was content with the ending. The scenes with the performers acting terribly made him roar with laughter, seeing himself in them, to a degree.
With every glance from Delphine he smiled and nodded, every portion having something enjoyable to him.
With the performer's final words, he sighed out yet one more chuckle, and joined in the applause. This was certainly a good return to himself.
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 1:26 PM
After the curtain call, they made their way towards the exit of the theatre, the bustle of the crowd dying slowly, replaced by a gentle backdrop of the sound of rain
"Well, that was very amusing -- I think I cared for the gods more than for the humans... Well, except perhaps that you can't go wrong with a play within a play."
Delphine said as she finished almost the last of the almonds (she'd eaten them only occaisonally during the show itself), offering the few remaining to him with a smile.
"You want the last, little bird? It's the virtue of a lady to be kind to animals, and it may be the only lady's virtue I like."(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Thursday at 1:58 PM
"Oh, of course. They're much more entertaining, whimsical..." He tried to impersonate the king of fairies. "'Here, you, yes, make them and them and them fall in love, and my wife too because I want something from her, how about an animal, that's shameful." He giggled. "So impulsive, it's funny... Eh? Oh, sure, I'll take the last. I'm a bird now, am I?" He takes the last of them, popping one into the corner of his mouth.
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 2:08 PM
"I saw how you managed the first bites," She pointed out, recalling something he'd noticed she'd neglected at the opening of the show.
"That sort of pettiness can be amusing when you're not dealing with it -- but also, they were the ones really driving the action. Without them, the story wouldn't have really been much of a story." Under the awning at the entrance of the theatre, she paused -- the rain was pounding on it, running between the cobbles on the streets. People dug out parasols or pulled over sturdy rain coat -- a few dashed, swearing to themselves, into the rain. Delphine sighed and stuck a hand out, feeling a cooler rain amidst the humid air.
"Ah, into every life a little rain must fall. "(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Thursday at 3:56 PM
"But too much is falling in mine..." Lorenzo sung in response, patting around for a pocket to stuff his journal in.
"Mm, you noticed that, did you? I thought it would be good for a bit of a giggle from you. Frankly, I think I'm more bearish than birdlike, but I didn't want to stuff my face into the cone and leave you without any snacks to yourself." He jokes, shuffling from foot to foot as he watches the rain patter.(edited)
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 4:41 PM
"Into each heart some tears must fall/ But some day the sun will shine,"
She hummed along, just after him, plunging her arm into the weather. It blocked the view of the stars, out in earnest now. The lamps were covered, providing the light with streaks of gold from all the theatres, turning the world of illusion into pockets of tinsel and glow, reflected in the street.
"Well, a little late, but I suppose so," she admitted, giggling a little. "Well, then no so much like a bear; they're hardly so considerate. ...Shall we wait here, or do we want to risk it?"
AOMidori20-Last Thursday at 5:11 PM
Lorenzo shrugged. "Oh, sure, let's wait. This is fun, anyway." With a grin, he resumes:
"Some folks can lose the blues in their hearts/But when I think of you..." He winks at Delphine teasingly. "...another shower starts!" As if to emphasize, he holds a hand out to the rain, cupping it so the water collected in his palm. Of course, he didn't mean it, though. Him and Delphine, courting each other? He found it amusing, especially during such a tumultuous conflict. Why, he mused, would one ever do such a foolish thing anyway?
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 5:32 PM
"Into each life some rain must fall / And too much is falling in mine," She crooned in response, bringing the verse to an end. An amused smile on her face, just on the cusp of laughing. This was something she did understand, and all of it -- frankly, she rather wished the rain falling was something like heartbreak, or longing -- it was stormy out there. It was a sad song you sung cheerfully, and so it suited her well.
But for the moment, she could just be earnestly satisfied, waiting out the rain with a friend by her side and a song on her lips, her voice lilting through the notes, swishing just a little in time with the tune. A little melody went a long way with Delphine.(edited)
AOMidori20-Last Thursday at 5:52 PM
He chuckled with mirth, leaning in for a second, longer side-hug. "Oh, beautiful, Delphine. You're a delightful singer." He crossed his arms again. Lorenzo could not help but empathize with the singer's story, as well. The rain had clouded him and his family for far too long for it to be fair--but he saw the hope in it, too. Someday, maybe, the sun would shine, and perhaps his daughter and father would get along, or both of them and their parents could be united back in their land, a happy family--
But now, he simply beamed, happy that he could unite with his companion, his hear, his friend, his co-theatergoer, his singing partner. While he did not like to do it much, singing was something he loved just as much as acting.
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 7:34 PM
She let him take that hug and half-gave one of her own, letting that laugh actually bubble over properly. She threw back her head with it, as the rain played counterpoint.
"Thank you much. You have a very nice voice, you know," She said as she came out of it. After a few more moments, the rain came down to a drizzle, a few faint drops scattering into the puddles. Delphine leaned out from under the awning.
"Well, would you look at that? Looks like we missed most of it, after all."
AOMidori20-Last Thursday at 8:51 PM
Lorenzo stepped out with newfound grace. "Ah, it's stopped for the most part! I believe it's time the two of us depart, don't you think, Delphine?" He planted his hands on his hips, then started folding his arms when he heard the compliment, getting a bit of a reddish hue. "Ah, oh, why... thank you. For the compliment."
LadyDeme-Last Thursday at 9:36 PM
"I believe so. Ah, what a world -- a fleeting vision on the stage, and lingering forever in memory, where all is frail and endless..." She shook her head. She'd been going somewhere with it, but lost it, and added, more sincerely,
"I only speak the truth, except when I lie... And. Well. I'm glad I ran into you tonight."
They set out under the lamplight, which reflected brightly in the puddles. The clouds were already dispersing, lighter now, and pushed by a breeze that smelled like the sea.
